I started the day on a mission...an Architecture de Gaudi mission! For anyone who doesn't know Gaudi, his work is EVERYWHERE here, or at least inspired much of the modernisme buildings around barcelona.I stayed in Eixample, where my hotel is located, and what is also known as the the best area for modern buildings-and shopping. Of course I had no time to shop, the day was overwhelmed with a trekking, but i'll get to that.
Anyway started down Carrer Gran De Gracia, first seeing Casa Fuster

It was the last work of architect Lluis Montaner, and is now a hotel...i didnt go inside.
I continued on a super long journey down Carrer Gran De Gracia, stopping to take a few photos of the small streets and lovely buildings.

love that detailing!!! i know photos of buildings and streets can be boring, but trust me, in the Barcelona sunlight..they are gorgeous.
I finally stopped for breakfast at a small cafe, having no idea where i was.
The plat combinat that i choose included asparagus, buttered toast, turkey, and green salad.

then i was off on an even longer journey to find Parc Guell. On the way i saw some really nice tags. there's alot of good street art in this area.

and then I got to the hill. Oh the hill. it never ended! gorgeous views! here again i was reminded of Seoul, when we climbed a very similar hill to the Buddhist temple. I'm not even going to type about getting to Parc Guell- i'll let the photos do the talking.

details from inside of the park:

my favourite flower is in spain! imagine that....

Anyway it was a long walk back, on the way i found the AFRO Shop, too bad it was closed.

I took a quick break back at the hotel- after hours of walking my feet were killing me. Little did i realize that a block away is the Casa Mila. I actually paid 10E to go inside...waste of time, except for the exceptional views from the terrace. Inside was an apartment set up and a museum.

I decided to end today's tours and go back to the hotel. I got dressed for the night and got a suggestion from the guy at the reception desk for the best Paella and good nightclub... which was in Port Olimipic.
Hopped into a taxi, and arrived at Barceloneta, a seafood restaurant by the water that seems to be extremely popular. Luckily since it was only moi i got a table and very fast service. I had a glass of red wine and by far the best paella i've ever had.

(look at his face! omg. I had to resist adding a speech bubble....)
After, I headed over to Catwalk, a 3 stry night club that is also popular in the area. 20E later, it took a while to get crowded, but it filled up around 2:30a. Let me tell you, no offense Europe...but wack!. I'm just not a club scene type of person. Also i must say that the dancing on the dance floor, was in so many words, "European train wreck"....no one knew where the beat went. I got lost just watching.

:::side note::: my hair is doing amazing things here. I may need to bottle the air:::
The taxi ride back certainly made up for it! ANYONE WHO GOES TO BARCELONA- be sure to ride a taxi back to eixample blasting The Strokes. Amazing feeling.
So anyway hope this post made up for the last one. I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow, but they're calling for rain, so we'll see. 2 days down, 2 to go.
(had to myspace style this picture!forgive me X_X....)

ciao!
